Every hour on the hour all the wall clocks at the Glorified Home for the Elderly beep a ding-dong. On the half hour it’s just a dong.
Since it was still morning the ding-dong indicated that Mr. Snoad, known to everyone as Snoadly, should be joining Taff for their midmorning coffee. They will be discussing the status of the world and universe.
As usual on Tuesday, Snoadly wore his dark blue blazer with a light blue button-down collar dress shirt.
When Snoadly walked into the coffee lounge Taft was already sitting at their table with two cups of hot black coffee waiting for their Tuesday morning meeting.
“Good morning, Taft.”
“Good morning Snoadly. It looks like the right sleeve of your jacket is about to fall off”.
“What! That can’t be. This is a Goldwater’s Department Store sportscoat, it was guaranteed for life. They don’t wear out!”
Snoadly twisted his head to the right, at least as far right that he could twist these days.
“Taff you’re right, the right sleeve of my favorite blue blazer is about to fall off. I’m taking it back to Goldwater’s now and getting it replaced with another blue blazer”.
Snoadly was on a mission. He didn’t go back to his apartment as he usually does, since he carries the keys to his old Buick with him.
The old Buick started right up, even though it had been a while since he had driven it, but he was on an important mission this morning.
His first thought was to bring his jacket with him to the Goldwater’s store in Scottsdale Fashion Square, but he bought his blazer at the Goldwater’s in the Park Central Shopping Center.
The old Buick was on Camelback Road heading towards Central Avenue and then south to the Park Central Shopping Center.
Snoadly congratulated himself as he pulled the old Buick into the parking lot at Park Central Shopping Center with the fact that only three of his fellow drivers went crazy blowing their horns at him.
He got out of the car slowly and headed towards Goldwater’s for his blue blazer exchange.
But wait, Snoadly couldn’t find the store, it was gone! The building still existed, but no Goldwater’s, just several fast-food joints on the street level. However, he did find a little brass plaque on one of the building’s columns that read, Goldwater’s.
Snoadly just stood there deep in thought. What was he going to do? His jacket needs to be repaired or replaced. Coldwater’s still has the obligation to repair or replace it.
Then it hit him. He knew exactly what he had to do.
First, he had to locate a phone booth in the Park Central Shopping Center and then call Senator Goldwater to find out where he had moved the store.
As Snoadly began his search for a phone booth he reached into his left pants pocket to ensure he had enough change to make a call.
