Saturday Morning

dandelions in a green grass lawn with the sun rising in the background

It was a pleasant summer Saturday morning. Clyde was sitting on the small front porch of his condo enjoying a morning cup of hot coffee.

Clyde looked over the bright green lawn that was filled with bright yellow blooming dandelions.

The randomness and brightness of the blooming yellow dandelions made Clyde smile, ever so slightly.

He liked and enjoyed looking at the bright yellow dandelion flowers. They brought him joy. They were beautiful rebels in a manicured lawn.

He knew the beauty of the colorful dandelions would soon be gone when the yard maintenance crew arrived with the dandelions being their nemesis. The renegade bright yellow dandelions were attacked full force by the yard maintenance crew with pull out and weed poison.

Clyde’s enjoyable view of the bright yellow dandelions was over. He wasn’t depressed, but certainly in a blue mood. He continued to sip his now tepid cup of coffee and stared at the green lawn.

Clyde’s new condo neighbor Veronica —who was young and attractive, said, “Morning Clyde” as she strolled towards the complex’s swimming pool. When Veronica reached the pool she took her short, bright yellow robe off and tossed it on the chair before she dove into the pool. Clyde took another sip of his now cold cup of coffee while he eyed Veronica.

Clyde’s blue mood vanished as he observed Veronica dive into the pool wearing her new, Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.
